Hi, my name is Rhea Mody and I am freshman here at Emory University. I am from Princeton, NJ and my parents are originally from India. Apart from English, I can speak Spanish (which I have learned in school) and I can get by in Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi. Every trip to India polishes my skills in each of the Indian languages. My parents do not speak any of these languages at home on a daily basis, so the only exposure I have to Indian languages is when I go to India.
I am pre-business student and I am also pursuing a major in Spanish. I have thoroughly enjoyed this English 101 class on multilingualism and it has connected to many of my other classes, such as my Spanish and Middle Eastern Studies class on language and identity.
大家好!我是Alan 赵一杨,Emory大学化学/商业专业的大一新生!我来自江苏南京,中国东南沿海地区的一座文明古城。

Hola! my name is Kelvin Camilo and I am a freshman here at Emory University currently studying Business and Spanish. I am originally from Lawrence, Massachusetts but both of my parents are from the Dominican Republic. Although Spanish is my first language, I am just as fluent in English. Growing up in a household where my parents only spoke to me in Spanish, I faced the challenge of learning English on my own. I did so with the help of my older brother and sister along with the diverse community from which I come from.
Here at Emory I find myself being exposed to new things everyday. From the religion, demographic, and the varying cultures of each individual, I feel as if i too have much to offer to this community y espero tener una estancia divertida y exitosa mientras estoy aqui!
(I hope to have a fun and successful time while I am here)
Hi, my name is Kara Maynard and I am freshman here at Emory University. I am from deep South Texas, a place called Harlingen, Texas. The area where I live is called the Rio Grande Valley, and it is right on the border with Mexico. I have had a lot of experience with multilingualism and immersion into the Hispanic culture.
I am going into Business and I might also major in Film Studies. I hope that I do well and have fun, but first I just have to do well in this English 101: Multilingualism class. Wish me luck!
